WOLF AND BEAR UNIFORMS

Why Do We Wear Uniforms?

The Boy Scouts of America has always been a uniformed body. There are many reasons for this. One reason stands out above all the rest. We wear the uniform because it is a means of identifying ourselves openly with the principles to which we are committed-character development, citizenship training, and physical and mental fitness.

What's the first thing a boy wants when he becomes a Cub Scout? The uniform, of course. The distinctive blue and gold uniform is undoubtedly one of the major incentives for young boys to become Cub Scouts. It is graphic evidence that they belong, that they are members of the world's largest boys' organization - "The Boy Scouts of America." The uniform also does these things for a boy:

bulletIt reminds him to live up to the Cub Scout Promise, Law of the Pack, and motto - Do Your Best.
bulletIt encourages neat, correct appearance as well as proper behavior.
bulletIt provides the only place for proper display of his badges and awards.
bulletIt reminds him of the steps along the Scouting trail and encourages him to continue into Boy Scouting.
We have two uniforms:  A "Class A" uniform and a "Class B" uniform.  The Class A uniform (described below) is used for all official functions - pack meetings, functions in the community, etc.  The Class B uniform may be used for Den meetings, picnics, etc.  The Leader or Cubmaster should specify when the Class B uniform is acceptable.

Class A Uniform:

Shirt - Official Cub Scout long- or short-sleeve dark blue shirt with button-flap pockets. Machine washable poly/cotton. Has gold "Boy Scouts of America" lettering on right shirt front. Proper insignia should be sewn on.  To properly place the insignia check here:  http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/9152/cubinsignia.html

Pants - Official Cub Scout blue trousers or shorts made from machine washable poly/cotton are preferred.  Matching dark blue jeans are acceptable.

Belt - Official navy blue web belt with metal buckle and Cub Scout emblem.

Neckerchief - Official Wolf neckerchief is worn by second grade (or 8-year-old) Cub Scouts-triangular, gold with navy blue trim. Neckerchief - Official Bear neckerchief is worn by third-grade (or 9-year-old) Cub Scouts-triangular, light blue with navy blue trim.

Neckerchief Slide - Official gold-colored metal slide with Cub Scout emblem. Handmade neckerchief slides may also be worn.

Hat - Official Wolf Cub Scout baseball-style cap is worn by second grade (or 8-year-old) Cub Scouts. It is navy with a gold front panel bearing the Wolf Cub Scout emblem. Hat - Official Bear Cub Scout baseball-style cap is worn by third-grade (or 9-year-old) Cub Scouts. It is navy colored with a powder blue front panel sporting the Bear Cub Scout emblem.
Socks - Official navy blue Cub Scout socks with gold tops are available and optional.

Class B Uniform:
The Class B Uniform is a blue T-shirt with the Pack 45 Emblem (shown), dark blue pants or shorts, and the belt and hats shown above.
